Jacqui Naylor & Art Khu Wed. 6/21

Upstage and Studio Bob in Port Angeles present acclaimed jazz vocalist Jacqui Naylor, accompanied by pianist and composer Art Khu, on Wednesday, June 21st, 7pm. “Naylor remains one of the most superbly arresting vocalists around” -JazzTimes. Naylor’s recordings have made the top 10 albums of the season in USA Today, Jazziz Magazine and The Washington Post. She tours regularly at esteemed venues – Birdland New York, Yoshis Oakland, Snug Harbor New Orleans, all Blue Note Clubs in New York, Milan and Japan.

Naylor and Art Khu are masters of bringing genres from different generations and mixing them in fascinating and delightful ways, drawing insight and emotion from fascinating arrangements. Their signature technique of arranging is “Acoustic Smashing.” She sings the melody and lyrics of a jazz standard while the band plays a pop classic or vice versa. In superb jazz style, you’ll listen to jazz standards masterfully synced with rock classics, or stunning pop lyrics over jazz standard arrangements.

Parking and Great Dining is available within a few minutes walk from Studio Bob. The Loom Bar at Studio Bob will be selling refreshments. Doors open at 6pm on concert night, Wednesday 6/21.

Award winning Segovia-trained guitarist/composer, Andre has brought his sensual and contemporary sound to traditional genres for thirty years. He performs worldwide. His creative blend of classical, flamenco and Brazilian styles speaks to people from all walks of life. His forays in Jazz, Pop, Rock, and Americana are legendary.

Stella Rossi was born in Paraguay. Her dynamic performance has joined many Northwest artists. She brings her authentic presentation of Spanish and South American dancing and percussion to groups such as CocoLoco. Stella also leads the flamenco-rock fusion band Deseo Carmin. From traditional to cutting edge contemporary, Stella brings her talents tailored to Andre’s, and the two present a stunning and exciting show that will move you with its passion, poetry, and sensuality.

Andre has garnered rave reviews applying his innovative guitar mastery to many instruments. He’s well known for stunning virtuosity, passion, and ability to connect with his audience on a deep emotional level. He’s released 13 solo recordings. He hopes the passionate and sometimes meditative qualities in his songs will inspire listeners  to see our similarities as humans, creating more peace and ease in our world.
